Reading

Reading Requirements

To receive credit toward course completion, each student must read in the book of scripture for the course of study selected passages. Where available, students can track their reading in the mySeminary app. Teachers and parents should provide students with encouragement and support in establishing and maintaining a daily scripture study habit.

The purpose of the daily scripture reading is to emphasize for each student the importance of the word of God as they regularly strive to understand and rely on Jesus Christ and His teachings and Atonement. To help students achieve this purpose in their daily reading, teachers should encourage and help each student to set a personal scripture study goal. While setting and achieving a personal study goal is not tied to earning semester credit, having a scripture study goal will bring focus and purpose to the students’ scripture reading experience every day.

While reading the entire book of scripture is no longer a requirement for seminary graduation, teachers should encourage students to complete the weekly Come, Follow Me reading assignments. By doing this throughout the year, students will read the entire text for the course of study.
